BENCHMARKS A benchmark is a representative sample defining the detailing and quality of a through-wall system. A benchmark can be a standalone item or part of the contract works and should either be available for inspection throughout the contract period or documented in such a way as to allow a comparison of what is being built with the benchmark. A benchmark can be used for demonstrating the construction and/or the finish and this should be defined in the records. 8 ±32 Note: the higher deflection allowance for new build concrete buildings is to take account of the long term creep and shrinkage effects of the concrete. ±16 ±20
