Sheathing Board
What is it? An external sheathing board is a fire-classified cement-based board which is highly resistant to weathering and provides a surface for mounting items such as breather membranes and facade systems. Where is it used? The sheathing board is usually fixed to the outside of the Steel Framing System using self-drilling screws. Why do we use it? A sheathing board is installed onto the SFS frame to make a building weather-tight as quickly as possible so that internal trades can start earlier in the construction process. Sheathing boards also provide thermal, acoustic and fire resistance properties which contribute to the performance of the building.
