In order to confirm the performance of open state cavity barriers, other measures should be considered for demonstrating fire performance, including individually removable rainscreen panels and the installation of sacrificial cavity barriers for removal and testing without affecting the integrity of the cavity barrier system. WARRANTIES The designer should check with the system owner what warranties are offered with the through-wall system and what is required to maintain the warranty. Alongside product and system testing, some owners of these types of external wall systems also offer the market-specific product and performance warranties for projects.
The use of the full proprietary system as specified by the owner could unlock ongoing specification and technical support, full validation checks through the installation process and access to vital test data – helping to ensure compatibility, performance and substantiation. The types of system and process of validation may differ between system owners, so FIS recommends speaking to the system owners for further information.
